Quick Astronomy Binoculars Buying Guide

[In case you need!]

Binoculars are just two telescopes mounted together. They too features object lenses/aperture. The image quality is directly proportional to its diameter. The larger its diameters, the large quantity of photons it gathers. The typical size of aperture for astronomy starts from 50mm-100mm.

The magnification is of somewhat importance for the purpose. There are a lot of binoculars with magnification ranging from 7-100x. But, the more you magnify the object, the smaller field of view (FOV)  is observed & images shakes as well. The ideal magnification is anywhere between 7x-20x. For higher value, you need tripod!

Exit pupil is another important term. Simply divide the diameter of aperture by magnification number. What you’ve is the diameter of bright spot visible on the eyepiece of binocular when pointed. Its important to match this size with your pupil. Because, as you grows older, your pupil can’t widen as much as a younger person’s can.

Eye relief of binoculars are of great importance if you wear spectacles. Usually, the binoculars need to be fixed in to your eye socket-close enough for full FOV. Specs creates barrier, as your look in bino’s via it. It leads in to distance from bino’s & thus limits your  FOV. An eye relief more than 15mm is advised for glass wearers (like me).

You may also consider its weight so that its easy to travel with. Waterproofing prevents binoculars letting fog ruin the view from inside, when water inside condenses. For the purpose, nitrogen purged binoculars are savior.

Final Words

If you want best experience with little high budget restriction, great, just go for AstroLuxe. You won’t be left disappointed. If you’re on budget, Nikon 8252 is also a great deal. Or you may be are restricted to two digits. Nikon 8248 or Nikon 8247, both are worth your hard earned money!

So this were the best Nikon binoculars for astronomy. As a astronomy lover, buying can be a great investment. But since there’s a huge verity to confuse, spend money wisely. You need knowledge for right purchase. Recommendation from someone who is knowledgeable & trustworthy is advised. There are some online locations like (Us) AlienPanda who are always here to help!
